Seoul, Korea (September 29, 2016) – Nine undergraduate students deserving of financial support have been awarded KRW 2,000,000 scholarships for academic study in 2016.

As part of the third annual KOSAF Scholarship (ETS TOEFL Test), Educational Testing Service’s TOEFL® Program and the Korea Student Aid Foundation (KOSAF) have awarded a total of KRW 18,000,000 to Korean students.

“In my case, studying for the TOEFL test has made impossible to possible. That’s why I am filled with hope and joy,” said In Jun Cho, one of the scholarship recipients. “I was able to strive in my major thanks to studying English. I believe that one day my English skills will become a stepping stone for my future career in computer programming.”

The scholarships were provided through a donation by the TOEFL Program to KOSAF with the goal of improving quality and fairness in education for Korean students. The 9 winners were chosen from applicants who submitted authorized English test scores, a transcript with English-related subjects, or an authorized English competition certificate.

“We appreciate the ETS TOEFL donation that has been continuing for 3 years, and has been supporting the dreams of Korean students,” said Yang-Ok Ahn, Chairman of KOSAF. “KOSAF will expand the collaboration with private organizations, such us our collaboration with ETS TOEFL, so that more students can pursue their academic achievements through these scholarships. These young talents will make a big difference to the future of Korea, and in that sense, we believe that it is important to create an encouraging academic environment for the youth to thrive.”
