Beijing, (May, 2018) – To ensure high-quality instruction and better preparation for taking the TOEFL®, Chinese test takers  should only purchase TOEFL Practice Online (TPO) and/or retired TOEFL iBT content from officially authorized providers, Educational Testing Service (ETS), urged today.

TOEFL® Practice Online and retired TOEFL iBT content are used to prepare students to do well on the TOEFL iBT test used for admission to universities worldwide. To ensure test takers have access to official TPO and retired TOEFL iBT content from the creators of the TOEFL test, only the following four organizations are authorized to provide learners with official TOEFL iBT preparation materials:

  • New Oriental Education and Technology Group (New Oriental)
  • TAL Education Group (TAL)
  • Higher Education Press (HEP)
  • Beijing Royal School (BRS)

“We want all test takers to succeed with their dreams of higher education whether in China or abroad and if they’re studying to take the TOEFL, the best way to ensure this is to only rely upon TPO and other retired TOEFL test materials from ETS-approved companies,” advised David Payne, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Global Education at ETS.

The four officially approved organizations each utilize retired TOEFL iBT content in varying ways. New Oriental has exclusive rights to acquire new TPO forms from ETS and to incorporate them into their public TOEFL learning classes every year. TAL is authorized to utilize retired TOEFL iBT test materials and create additional content and services for their online TOEFL learning programs. HEP and BRS utilize TPO internally to instruct and assess English learning for their students.
