An Education Leader on Preparing Today’s Learners for an Optimistic Future

By Dr. Earl Lewis

Preparing today’s generation of learners to redesign the future first requires them to imagine all they can achieve by working on and testing their capabilities, explains ETS Board of Trustees Member Dr. Earl Lewis. In a recent conversation with Dr. Lewis, we discuss the powerful influence of role models in helping learners realize their potential and his own personal experience and role models throughout his educational journey.

After learning of the sacrifices his grandmother made to ensure her children had access to quality education, Dr. Lewis adamantly pursued his education and remained open to every experience he encountered. Seeing the drastic changes between his generation and today’s young students, Dr. Lewis believes that if colleges and universities can rededicate themselves to their communities, their students will be well-equipped to reach their possibilities in undergrad and beyond.
