At ETS, we believe that a quality education begins with having qualified teachers in the classroom. As part of our ongoing dedication to access and equity in education, we are proud to announce the launch of our remote testing solution — Praxis® tests at home. While the COVID-19 crisis continues to change the learning landscape, we are dedicated to ensuring that aspiring educators have a clear path forward.
The pressing need for qualified educators to enter our nation’s classrooms in the coming months is met by our solution that provides a convenient, flexible and safe testing option.
Prospective educators can register for Praxis tests at home starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, May 15, with testing beginning on Monday, May 18. The launch will coincide with the reopening of select Prometric test centers which will offer limited seating. Our solution will help to meet testing demand by ensuring that future educators can continue their professional journeys without interruption.
Prospective educators who have been preparing for their educator certification exams can feel confident taking Praxis tests at home because the content, format, on-screen experience, scoring and pricing is unchanged from what they would experience in a physical test center. Features like the ability to preview, skip questions, review and change responses are still available with Praxis tests at home. The key difference is that test takers now have the option to take tests at home, or another secure location, that will allow them to complete their requirements during this critical time.
The Praxis tests at home solution will be released in two phases with the most frequently administered tests launching first on May 18 and additional Praxis assessments released in the coming weeks. The complete list of tests that will be available for at home testing can be found here.
We have taken every precaution possible to ensure that our solution meets the highest standards that test takers and institutions have come to expect of ETS offerings. Praxis tests at home uses multiple best-in-class security measures including real-time human monitoring as well as intelligence technology. These security measures recognize and remediate even the most difficult to detect security incidents.
We remain committed to serving test takers with disabilities and health-related needs with accommodations and services appropriate to the test they are taking. These support services can be requested through the ETS Disability Services for test takers with approved devices such as IntelliKeys keyboards or diabetic instruments. The Praxis tests at home solution will be available to teacher-candidates in the United States as well as territories and authorities including America Samoa, ASHA, DODEA, Guam, NASP, Northern Mariana Islands and U.S. Virgin Islands.
